We regret to announce that Kurri Kurri Community Markets will cease to operate as of 1st May, 2018.
Kurri Kurri Girl Guides has been the organiser of these markets for the past 13 years – quite an achievement for a small group of mostly females.
Our volunteer coordinator is no longer able to continue running this fundraising event, and we have been seeking assistance from our Guiding families to take on this role for some time now, even on a shared basis, without any success.
We are also at a point when a new Development Application needs to be lodged with Council, and we needed to ensure that the markets would be a viable proposition before outlaying the costs for this.
Therefore, our Market Committee has decided that we will step down from the running of the markets for the time being, but still keep our options open that we may return to Markets in the future.
Alternatively, if another local Charity wished to take on the running of the markets, we would be happy to give them advice and support in their endeavors.
We take this opportunity to thank all our stallholders for their dedication to the Kurri Kurri Community Markets, our local community and customers for their patronage, and our families and Guiding volunteers for their hard work.
We also thank the Councillors from Cessnock City Council who have provided advice and encouragement to us.
