Kurri Kurri offers Visitors and residents the opportunity to view a pictorial
journey showcasing the history of our region.
The Mural Tours will captivate and enlighten you with historical information
and personal stories through the beautiful public art pieces that compliment the
history of Kurri Kurri and our surrounding region.
Every Mural includes a Kookaburra, which is the symbol of Kurri Kurri, see if
you can spot it.
Guided Mural tours are available 7 days a week - BOOKINGS ARE ESSENTIAL.

Each tour veiws a selection of our 51 Murals, all guides have extensive local
knowledge.
BACKGROUND
Towns With Heart is a small community group working in the area of Kurri Kurri
and the surrounding villages of Abermain, Stanford Merthyr, Weston, Heddon Greta,
Pelaw Main and Neath. The Mural program was initiated in an effort to address
the local level of unemployment and to facilitate local business growth and development.
In 2003 the group decided to undertake a ‘Mural Project' with the aim of getting more of the thousands of cars that pass through the town, to stop and see what Kurri Kurri has to offer.
In less than six years the town has over 50 murals showcasing the areas history, heritage and uniqueness. Visitors now come on buses and in cars to see the magnificent murals and undertake a tour by one of our local guides.
A book ‘ Kurri Kurri – A town of Murals ' featuring the first 38 murals in the series was published in October 2006, and is on sale for $10 until sold out.
